Story of the artwork
Everything that takes place within us, not on the outside, not in the surrounding world full of absence and the pretense of belonging, of illusions of perfection. It is about accepting things as they are, without embellishment. About the uniqueness of the moment, about finding a harbor within oneself, about a fixed point, about a lighthouse that shines a light on the path not only for others, about finding a home with compassion and kindness.
It evokes the underwater world for me; from the bottom of the sea I look up and see a seahorse, flying fish, corals and seaweed, a jellyfish. That depth of merging and swaying in space; I see the surface through which the sun’s rays shine, and within them the outline of the ruler of the oceans and seas with a crown, but also a giant eagle that has spread its wings and flies upward with unbridled freedom. There is life in symbiosis within it.
